Our packaging

Is your packaging recyclable?

We ship all of our orders in 100% plastic-free packaging. All of our packaging is recyclable and compostable, except for our shipping labels, and we're working on that. We don't include any paper packing slips or invoices in our orders.

What packaging do you use?

  • Boxes. Plain brown kraft boxes made from recyclable and biodegradable cardboard, sourced from Irish suppliers. We choose not to brand our boxes so they're easy to reuse and recycle. We hand stamp the inside of the boxes ourselves using water-based inks.
  • Tape. Paper packing tape with a water-activated adhesive, printed with plant-based inks. It's recyclable, biodegradable and certified home compostable.
  • Cards. Our thank you and gift cards are printed on 100% recycled shiro card using plant-based inks by The Factory in Offaly, Ireland's only eco printers.
  • Tissue paper. Our everyday tissue paper is repurposed, 100% recycled newsprint paper off-cuts from Germany, and it's Blue Angel certified. For gift packaging we use plain, coloured, unbleached tissue paper and 100% recycled kraft paper zig zag filler.
  • Stickers. These are printed on uncoated paper, or on grass paper. Grass paper is an FSC-certified paper made from 30% sun-dried hay and 70% FSC-certified pulp. Compared to wood pulp, it takes 97% less energy and 99% less water to produce.

Smallest possible package

We ship your order in the smallest package we can, to reduce the volume of our shipments. If your order fits in a paper padded envelope, that's our first choice.

Reusing what we can

As much as possible, we reuse suitable materials from our own incoming deliveries to send your orders. That includes cardboard boxes, paper void fill, biodegradable cornstarch peanuts and shredded cardboard. So if your parcel arrives in a box with another brand's name on it, that's why.

Are your shipping labels compostable?

Not yet, and it's a bugbear of ours. Our shipping labels are printed on thermal paper, which can't be recycled or composted because of the chemicals used to make it. We're still looking for a sustainable alternative that works with our courier's systems.
